Mainframe COBOL Consultant 100% Remote Job Summary We are looking for a Mainframe COBOL Consultant with experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting mainframe applications. The candidate will work on COBOL-based systems, troubleshoot production issues, and collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver reliable solutions. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL. Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical solutions. Work with JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and batch processing systems. Perform coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. Support production issues and provide timely resolutions. Participate in system integration and user acceptance testing. Optimize existing applications for performance and stability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Required Skills Strong knowledge of COBOL programming. Experience with IBM Mainframe technologies. Hands-on experience with JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM. Good understanding of batch job processing and scheduling. Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC). Problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Experience in banking, insurance, or financial domain is a plus. Nice to Have Exposure to Agile methodology. Knowledge of mainframe modernization or migration projects. Experience with tools like Endevor, File-AID, or Changeman.
